All Gifts Matched Until Midnight! Help Free Minds Purchase 2,000 Books in 24 Hours for Incarcerated Book Club Members

Wednesday, May 15, is DoMore24, a regional day of giving to support nonprofits in the DC area. This year, we are raising funds to send 2,000 books to incarcerated members of our Prison Book Club—and a generous donor is matching all gifts up to $10,000! Don't miss this chance to double your impact.

Because DC doesn’t have a prison, most Free Minds members spend their sentences far from home in federal prisons across the country—increasing their experiences of isolation and trauma. Always there for our members, the Free Minds team sends them personalized book selections, writing exercises, a literary magazine written by members, and individualized letters. Our Prison Book Club is an essential source of connection, education, and inspiration for our members as they write new chapters in their lives. Together, we can do more for our community!

"You all have helped me tremendously throughout my prison sentence. I started at a first grade reading level, and have significantly improved ever since you all have sent me books. The books that have been sent to me are very touching, and surprisingly, have taught me discipline, all the while humbling myself in the process. I had to seriously slow down and take my time reading them, which helped me understand what I was reading more. It's given me a passion to improve my reading and writing skills. Please continue to send more reading material." - Dominick
